SUNY Canton Grounds Supervisor Lauded by College Council
Grounds Supervisor Stanley Wilson received the 2007 Employee Recognition Award presented by the SUNY Canton College Council.
Wilson is a “hands-on” leader who takes pride in his job and the appearance of SUNY Canton.
Wilson oversees the mowing, cuts, pruning, planting, trimming, plowing, and sanding on campus. Under his supervision, the college is not only kept safe, but also beautiful.
“Stan is quick to point out that his staff deserves credit for the campus’ appearance,” said SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy. “He isn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and work hard right along with them.”
Wilson started in 1984 as a cleaner and was promoted to janitor in 1988, transferred to grounds in 1990, was a highway equipment operator in 1994, and senior grounds worker in 2000, and has been in his current position in 2002.
He recently played a key role in ensuring the success of events such as the Regan Flag Station dedication and the college’s outdoor commencement ceremony.
