SUNY Canton Celebrating Fall Festival and Family Weekend
CANTON – Two activities to support outstanding community organizations will be held in conjunction with SUNY Canton’s annual Fall Festival and Family Weekend.
A 12-hour relay to benefit the Canton Fire Department will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Canton Village Park and a Motorcycle run to benefit the St. Lawrence County chapter of Habitat for Humanity will depart at 11 a.m. from parking lot six on campus.
The two fundraisers come in addition to the college’s action-packed weekend line-up of activities. Some of the events are as follows:
- The Verizon USA Luge Slider Search will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Parking lot six on the campus. This event requires preregistration.
- The Automotive Technology Club’s Car show begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday on the Roselle Academic Plaza at SUNY Canton.
- The college’s annual craft show and fair will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center Intramural Gymnasium.
- The SUNY Canton Ropes Course will be open 10 a.m. adjacent to the footbridge behind SUNY Canton.
The drivers of SUNY Canton Racing will be on hand during the day for an autograph and photo session and the SUNY Canton Steel Bridge Team will be performing a demonstration with their nationally-recognized steel bridge. There will also be many other student and academic displays and demonstrations throughout the day.
Adding to the weekend, the SUNY Canton Kangaroos soccer teams will play rival Paul Smith’s College on Saturday. The men’s game starts at 1 p.m. and the women will take the turf at 3 p.m. on the Edson A. Martin Athletic fields.
SUNY Canton offers a wide variety of career-driven bachelor’s, associate, and certificate programs, as well as three master’s degrees in conjunction with SUNYIT, Utica. Most of SUNY Canton’s new four-year programs are designed so students can take them on-campus, online, or both. SUNY Canton OnLine features more than 85 courses online each semester. The college’s athletic teams have joined the NAIA’s Sunrise Conference, enabling students to compete in their respective sports for four years.
