SUNY Canton Wellness Health Fair, March 18

rod_of_asclepiusMore than 15 community agencies will be joining together at the SUNY Canton Wellness Health Fair on March 18.

SUNY Canton’s Davis Health Center is sponsoring the Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center’s Woodcock Conference Suites.

The college is holding the fair to educate students and North Country residents about healthy lifestyles and preventative measures. More than 15 representatives from area health care agencies will be on hand to demonstrate successful habits for a better, healthier life.

Free services include:

  • Blood sugar testing
  • Cholesterol testing
  • Blood pressure check-ups
  • Body fat testing
  • Nicotine cessation support

The Mobile Mammography unit from Canton-Potsdam Hospital will also be on campus for the day.

The Dental Hygiene program and the Lambda Eta Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at SUNY Canton will also be helping with the event.

Contributing organizations include United Helpers, Natural Way, Nature’s Storehouse, North Country Adolescent Outreach, Renewal House, CAVA, Alzheimer’s Association, Planned Parenthood, Seaway Valley Prevention Council, Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country, North Country Children’s Clinic, Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, St. Lawrence County Stop DWI and Traffic Safety, and the Rochester Eye and Tissue Bank.

SUNY Canton offers a wide variety of career-driven bachelor’s, associate, and certificate programs, as well as three master’s degrees in conjunction with SUNYIT, Utica. Most of SUNY Canton’s new four-year programs are designed so students can take them on-campus, online, or both. SUNY Canton OnLine features more than 100 courses online each semester. The college’s athletic teams belong to the NAIA’s Sunrise Conference, enabling students to compete in their respective sports for four years.
