SUNY Canton Celebrates University Police Appreciation Day

SUNY Canton’s staff and students thanked the college’s University Police Department for keeping the college safe. During a surprise ceremony on Wednesday (Feb. 24) each of the officers was presented with a basket filled with gift cards, stress balls, coffee cups, candy and personalized t-shirts designed by students.

“The Student Government Association (SGA),  the Student Affairs office and the College Association all wanted to thank the officers for all they do to support its students,” said Khaina A. Solomon, a SUNY Canton Management major and SGA President. “Nearly everyone I know appreciates all the work University Police does for the campus.”

University Police provides a safe and secure environment for the entire campus community and assists local law enforcement agencies. Most recently, an officer helped save a life by administering Naxolone (also known as Narcan) to an unresponsive overdose victim at an off-campus residence. Numerous other officers have been heralded for their life-saving efforts both locally and statewide.
