The Ready Center brings together three departments: Advising and First-Year Programs, Career Services, and International Programs. The new location in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center aims to assist students in reaching their academic and career goals by providing services in a “one-stop-shop” format.

“Students will visit the Ready Center during every stage of their academic career at SUNY Canton,” said President Zvi Szafran. “Our staff will guide them through their transition from high school to college; connect them with internship, employment, or post-graduate opportunities; and even help them to choose an exciting study-abroad experience.”

The brand new SUNY Canton Ready Center houses the college’s Academic Advising, Career Services and International Programs offices and staff in a large open space within the Campus Center. The student-focused offices can help students with all facets of their time at college, according to SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran.

The concept for the Ready Center was modeled on the successful “One-Hop Shop” project that was completed in 2014, which combined several key administrative offices into one location. There, students have access to the Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid Office and College Association services.

“We are constantly looking for ways in which we can help our students maximize the value and efficiency of their time on campus by putting related offices under one roof,” Szafran said. “An added benefit is that the Ready Center is just steps away from the One-Hop Shop, the Student Activities Office, campus eateries, the book store, mailroom and Davis Health Center.”

The Ready Center has been operating for nearly a month, and initial feedback from students has been positive.

“It is a rewarding feeling to see students leave my office feeling like they have accomplished more than expected in one visit,” said Coordinator for International Student Initiatives Erin Lassail. “I can rest assured knowing they achieved what was needed and are not leaving an appointment feeling overwhelmed.”

The Ready Center, located in Room 224 of the Richard W. Miller Campus Center, is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
