Consul General of Germany to Visit SUNY Canton, April 12
German Consul General Brita Wagener will be discussing recent developments in transatlantic relations at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, in Payson Hall Room 219 at SUNY Canton. The event is free and open to the public and a reception will follow the presentation.
“We are hosting the Honorable Brita Wagener as part of our ongoing international learning opportunities,” said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. “We extend a special invitation to our area businesses and elected officials to join us for the program.”
Before assuming her duties as the consul general in the U.S., Wagener served as German ambassador to Iraq, the consul general in Istanbul, as commissioner for German personnel in international organizations at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, among other high-ranking international positions. Prior to those posts, she held various positions for the German Federal Foreign Office. Wagener studied law at both the University of Bonn and at the University of Hamburg.
