SUNY Canton Summer Session Enrollment Continues to Climb
Enrollment for SUNY Canton’s online Summer Session has been growing steadily for three consecutive years in a row.
The college currently has 1,862 enrollments, which is an increase from 1,782 last year and 1,743 in 2014.
The Summer Session, which runs from May 26 until late August, consists of courses ranging from five to eight weeks. Students can choose from more than 130 courses in a variety of topics including art, management, law, economics and history.
“One of the reasons why our online Summer and Winterterm sessions are so popular is because we offer an array of subjects, allowing students plenty of opportunities to earn credit in the area of their choice,” said Molly A. Mott, dean of academic support services and instructional technologies. “Our courses can help them catch up, graduate early or satisfy prerequisites for their major.”
Mott noted that the sessions are not only utilized by SUNY Canton students, but from public and private schools throughout the state and the entire country, since credits are easily transferrable to their home institution.
“Over the years, we have built a strong reputation for our off-term courses,” she said. “We consistently see a large contingent of students enrolling from Syracuse University, Siena College, the University of Wisconsin, as well as many other SUNY schools, such as Binghamton and Stony Brook,” Mott said.
The Summer Session’s growth has mirrored the college’s Winterterm session, which has also realized an upward enrollment trend for the past several years.
