The president and CEO of COP Construction will be presenting at SUNY Canton as part of the college’s Excellence in Leadership Lecture Series.
Edward Bedell is a 1969 alumnus who has established a successful career in construction project management. He is scheduled to speak at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, in Nevaldine Hall Room 102. Leadership Lecture Series presentations are free and open to the public.
“We are very fortunate that we are able to bring in established, professional, alumni who demonstrate the strengths of the applied education offered at SUNY Canton,” said Michael J. Newtown, dean of the Canino School of Engineering Technology. “Mr. Bedell is a perfect example of how a student can start here and go anywhere.”
Newtown said Bedell’s lecture would be of interest to students in a variety of the college’s engineering technology or STEM related fields and will also appeal to management students from the School of Business and Liberal Arts.
Bedell took ownership of COP Construction after working as the company’s Vice President of Operations. COP specializes in bridges, dams, concrete structures, water, sanitary sewer and storm drain utilities, water and sanitary sewer treatment plants, containment ponds, subdivisions, general site work, and recreational facilities.
He oversees operations in Montana, Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. The company employs between 200 and 350 full-time personnel and is widely recognized as a leading construction company in its region.
