Home Energy Performance Presentation Friday, Feb. 10, at SUNY Canton

CREST LogoSUNY Canton will be holding a free Home Energy Performance presentation at noon, Friday (Feb. 10) in Halford Hall.

Jerry K. Loch, outreach coordinator for the Watertown-based Green Jobs, Green New York program, will be describing the best questions to ask when considering updates.

“Houses work as a system,” Loch said. “When you make a home more efficient, you can also positively change its safety and comfort levels.”

The presentation is sponsored by the SUNY Canton Career Ready Education and Success Training (CREST) Center for Workforce Development and the Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA), an independent Contractor for New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Participants can also receive a comprehensive home energy assessment.

Support SUNY Canton on Giving Tuesday

The Canton College Foundation is joining the Giving Tuesday movement by celebrating donors and asking for new contributions to the Canton Fund.

The college is adorning all of the places on campus with golden ribbons that were named for or sponsored by SUNY Canton patrons for Giving Tuesday. Pictured are Halford Hall, named in honor of 1949 Alumnus John L. Halford, Sr., and the statue of Former Men’s Hockey Coach Terry Martin outside of the Roos House Convocation, Athletic and Recreation Center.

“Thanks to past support, this year we’ve awarded more than $460,000 in scholarships to 291 students,” noted Anne M. Sibley, vice president for advancement. “Faculty, staff and students are receiving almost $50,000 for special projects and professional development. We want to thank everyone who makes this possible.”

Terry Martin StatueIn celebration of Giving Tuesday, the College Foundation will be hanging bright gold bows on buildings and areas that were named for, or substantially improved by, charitable benefactors. Faculty and staff members who donate to the college will be personally thanked throughout the day.

“The Canton Fund has a positive impact across the campus,” Sibley said. “We are encouraging everyone to join us during this national celebration of generosity.”
