Kaitlyn N. Tibbetts of Farmingville was named SUNY Canton’s Outstanding Graduate for the class of 2016.
Tibbetts is graduating with her Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and has dedicated much of her free time to volunteering on campus and in the community while earning her degree.
Her leadership experience includes positions as vice president of the American Criminal Justice Association, senator for the Criminal Justice Student Association, treasurer of the Residence Hall Association, and secretary of the SUNY Canton Emergency Medical Service (EMS) squad. She is also a volunteer firefighter with Canton Fire and Rescue.
“As one of the founding members of SUNY Canton’s on-campus EMS program, we have relied on Kaitlyn to help get our organization off the ground,” said EMS Advisor Richard J. Mattimore. “She is incredibly mature and has proven to be a great asset.”
She has also volunteered at campus fundraising events, such as the Buddy Walk, the Alzheimer’s Walk, and the Nicole Fleury Run. She has earned both Dean’s List and President’s List honors while fulfilling her work obligations as an assistant in the Athletics Department, a note taker for the Office of Accommodative Services and a Resident Assistant in Kennedy Hall.
Tibbetts plans to continue her studies at SUNY Canton in the four-year Criminal Investigation program.
