SUNY Canton Celebrates Inaugural SBDC Day

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017

The SUNY Canton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will join its peer centers across the state and nation to recognize the inaugural SBDC Day, celebrated today, (Wednesday, March 22).

SBDC Day is a national recognition movement to share the small business success stories and notable impact SBDCs have fostered in their respective communities.

“We are pleased to be able to work side by side with our region’s existing and aspiring entrepreneurs,” said SUNY Canton SBDC Director Dale A. Rice. “Their hard work and commitment keep the local, regional and national economy growing every day.”

The SUNY Canton SBDC offers free direct counseling and a wide range of management and technical assistance services. Small business advisors help start-up companies develop business plans, assist existing businesses to expand or offer industry specific resources. Business planning services are provided free of charge. It is one of 1,000 Small Business Development Centers to provide business consulting and training to more than a million small businesses each year.

SBDCs provide local businesses and entrepreneurs with the resources needed to succeed. In 2016, America’s SBDCs provided 1.3 million hours of consulting to 192,205 client businesses, resulting in 100,233 jobs created; $6.9 billion in sales growth; $4.6 billion in capital investments; and helped launch 17,864 new businesses.

“We are thrilled to see SBDCs around the country working together to celebrate their clients and showcase the work they do for America’s small businesses,” said Charles “Tee” Rowe, America’s SBDC President and chief executive officer. “SBDC clients see an average job growth of 15.5 percent versus the national job growth average of just 1.9 percent. There is no denying the impact SBDCs have on the success of the small businesses in their communities and their local economies.”
