SUNY Canton Canino School of Engineering Technology is hosting its annual Women in Engineering Day beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, in Nevaldine Technology Center.
Girls in sixth, seventh and eighth grades are invited to participate in activities and conversations related to careers in engineering. Workshops and presentations include Lego Mindstorm Robots and robotic programming, graphic design and interactive art, a computer password guessing game, computer-based automotive lessons, drinking water treatment, an introduction to surveying, electronics projects and materials analysis.
The college hosts this event to expose middle and high school students to its technology-focused learning environment and to prepare them for careers where women are traditionally underrepresented.
The American Association of University Women is cosponsoring the event. For more information, or to inquire about participation, contact Rebecca Blackmon in the SUNY Canton Grants Office, (315) 386-7686 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
