Applications on the Rise at SUNY Canton

Applications to attend SUNY Canton this fall are up nearly 20 percent from last year and almost 30 percent from five years ago. Acceptances to the College are up by similar percentages.

“We’re on a pace right now to receive the largest number of applications in the college’s history,” said Vice President for Advancement Dave Gerlach. “Combined with a large number of continuing students, we’re projecting one of the highest enrollment years in the history of the college this fall.”

SUNY Canton began the 2006-07 academic year with just over 2,600 students, the fourth largest number in the college’s 100-year history and the highest since 1990-91.

More than 2,300 applications have been received to date, up by more than 350 from last year and an increase of more than 500 from five years ago. SUNY Canton has surpassed 3,300 applications just twice in college history.
