Alternative Rockers "The Spill Canvas" Coming to Canton
CANTON – SUNY Canton will be hosting popular alternative rockers The Spill Canvas on Friday, Sept. 5, at the Canton Pavilion on Lincoln Street.
Doors open for The Spill Canvas with special guests The Trapps at 6 p.m.
The Spill Canvas is a South Dakota foursome who has toured with the bands Motion City Soundtrack, Straylight Run, Mae and The Plain White T’s, and performed at venues including The Bamboozle in New Jersey and in the Vans Warped Tour.
According to the band’s biography, lead singer Nick Thomas is described as a noticeably talented, quietly charming, and extraordinarily friendly next door neighbor type who grew from his experiences of hometown success.
The band has produced four albums since 2002, the most recent of which hit the Billboard 200 charts. The Spill Canvas was named one of the Bands to Watch in 2007 according to Alternative Press. Though no longer the guy next door, they have preserved the sensibility of their humble beginnings and are highly-devoted to their fans.
The concert is one of many of the college’s student activities lined up for the fall semester. The events are sponsored by the Student Cooperative Alliance and the College Union Board, the college’s student government organizations. Future activities include the college’s Fall Festival and Family Weekend beginning Sept 26.
Tickets are on sale at the SUNY Canton Bookstore, Northern Music & Video, or by phone at 315-386-7623. Advance tickets are $10 for SUNY Canton students, $15 for the general public, and $20 the day of the show.
