SUNY Canton Sophomore Receives Silver Spoon Scholarship
A SUNY Canton Criminal Investigation major from the Bronx has been selected as a recipient of the 2015 Silver Spoon Foundation’s Successful Transitions scholar program.
Thalia I. Navedo was chosen from hundreds of applicants to attend a professional leadership conference paid for by the foundation. Navedo has selected to attend the Women in Strategy Summit being held March 19-20 in New York City.
“I will have the opportunity to hear from amazing women in the corporate world discuss their successes,” Navedo said of the conference. “I plan on becoming a homicide detective for the NYPD, and the knowledge I will gain from attending this conference will contribute to reaching my career goals.”
Navedo is the president of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and is a member of the Chi Alpha Epsilon honor society. She has received both President’s and Dean’s List honors and is a member of the Criminal Justice Student Association.
“I have learned so much from my advisers and professors while attending SUNY Canton,” she said. “I have been presented with many wonderful opportunities, and I am nothing short of thankful for all the support I’ve received.”
The Successful Transitions scholar program is designed to allow underprivileged students access to a professional network associated with their industry of study while still in school.
