The International Programs office at SUNY Canton is accepting applications for two unique summer study abroad opportunities in Croatia and China.
Students from SUNY Canton and other area colleges are eligible for the programs. Students must have a 2.75 GPA or better and must have completed their first full year of college.
The first of the two study abroad opportunities this summer will take place in Guangdong, China from May 26 through June 17. Students will spend two and a half weeks in Guangdong and the last three days in Beijing, China. Lectures will be supplemented by presentations and communication workshops by faculty from Guangdong College. Students will also have an opportunity to attend numerous cultural events and day trips and be joined by Guangdong students during lectures and cultural visits.
Students accepted into the study abroad program in Dubrovnik, Croatia, will study international and ethnic conflict from July 11 through Aug. 1. Students can expect to gain an insight into major conflicts of the 20th century involving the Balkan Region.
Students can also participate in cultural trips during the afternoons and weekends giving them a unique opportunity for experiential learning. Michael J. Popovic, a faculty member from the College’s School of Business and Liberal Arts, offers courses for this program in English.
